Forest School

Forest School is a process which aims to; encourage exploration and curiosity in the natural world, develop confidence, independence and self-belief to try new things and build social skills through working in teams to problem solve.

In younger children additional benefits can include encouraging the development of spatial awareness and gross and fine motor skills.

Forest School also provides exposure to manageable risk which encourages and teaches children how to assess risk for themselves rather than rely on adults to check if something is safe. With high adult to child ratios, children can safely experience activities that are usually prohibited, such as climbing trees or lighting fires.

Here at Manor Hill we are incredibly lucky to benefit from extensive grounds which offer a wealth of outdoor learning opportunities. To ensure the grounds are used to their full potential we have different areas for specific activities such as climbing, den building and learning how to use tools.

We are also in the process of creating a story telling area for the children to enjoy and explore in the coming months.

We enjoy Forest School in all weathers. Please ensure that your child has the following named items to ensure they can enjoy their sessions.
